L’Adoration des Mages, thème artistique courant, pose dans sa relation à l’ensemble du cycle maintes questions relatives à l’espace et au temps. À travers la place accordée au cortège, les peintres du Quattrocento ont apporté des réponses originales qui tiennent aux liens qu’ils ont établis entre ce traitement du cortège et les évolutions artistiques, sociales, géographiques et religieuses de leur temps. Cet article propose d’en déchiffrer les principales structures.

The Adoration of the Magi, a common artistic theme, raises, in its relation to the whole cycle, many questions relative to space and time. By deciding which place was appropriate for the procession, the painters of the Quattrocento gave original answers that display which relationships they established between the treatment of the Magi and contemporaneous artistic, social, geographical, and religious developments. This article deals with the main structures of these representations.

Grâce à son engagement intellectuel et à ses contacts personnels, Friedrich Schleiermacher exerça une influence déterminante sur la politique culturelle en Prusse, en particulier sur la fondation d’une nouvelle université à Berlin. Notre étude s’interrogera d’une part sur ses idées relatives au renouveau de l’enseignement et à l’organisation de l’Université, en les comparant avec celles d’autres intellectuels de renom (Schelling, Fichte, Steffens et Humboldt), et d’autre part sur la manière dont, en tant que l’un des pères fondateurs de la nouvelle Université de Berlin (et donc de la Faculté de Théologie), il est parvenu à transposer ces idées dans la pratique.

Thanks to his intellectual commitment and his personal contacts, Friedrich Schleiermacher exerted a determining influence over the cultural policy in Prussia, especially over the foundation of a new university in Berlin. On the one hand, our paper deals with his ideas concerning the renewal of education and the organization of the University, by comparing them with the views of other renowned intellectuals (Schelling, Fichte, Steffens, and Humboldt), on the other hand with the way in which, being one of the founding fathers of the new University of Berlin (and therefore of the Theological Faculty), he managed to have his ideas carried out in practice.

La marche est une pratique banale, comparée au pèlerinage. Mais considérer ce dernier comme exceptionnel ne conduit-il pas à lui retirer une grande part de sa signification anthropologique ? L’arrachement du départ comme la hâte de parvenir à destination dramatisent la marche, et nous empêchent de comprendre ce qui se joue dans l’intervalle, dans l’allant d’un corps retrouvé comme sien, dans un espace-temps qui n’est pas réductible à celui de la Chute. Une phénoménologie de la marche permet de redécouvrir l’ordinaire dans l’extraordinaire du pèlerinage, et de comprendre la porosité contemporaine des distinctions entre marcher et partir en pèlerinage. Peut-être nous permet-elle de comprendre en outre que, malgré maintes ressemblances, l’esprit du marcheur diffère notablement de celui du touriste ?

Walking is something common, comparable with pilgrimage. But if we consider the latter as something exceptional, do not we, then, deny a good deal of its anthropological meaning ? Both the wrench of parting and the haste to reach a destination have a dramatizing effect on walking, and prevent us from understanding what happens in the meantime, when one finds again the body as one’s own, in the space of time that transcends the Fall. A phenomenology of walking makes us rediscover the ordinary in the extraordinary of pilgrimage, and to understand the contemporaneous porosity of the distinctions between walking and leaving for pilgrimage. Perhaps it makes us understand, furthermore, that in spite of several similarities, the spirit of a walker differs notably from the spirit of a tourist.

La deuxième partie de La mémoire, l’histoire, l’oubli de Paul Ricœur s’ouvre sur une réflexion, brève mais profonde et, à notre avis, particulièrement significative sur « l’espace habité ». Un détail a retenu notre attention : la référence, en note, à l’importance que Ricœur accorde à la possibilité de transposer au plan architectural des catégories liées à la triple mimèsis exposée dans Temps et récit. Notre intention, dans la présente étude, est de préciser le sens et les implications de cette possibilité suggestive.

In the second part of Memory, History, Forgiveness, Ricœur begins by offering an analysis – brief but nonetheless profound and, in our view, very significant – of the « inhabited space ». An important detail has captured all our attention : the reference to the possibility of transferring to an architectural plan of analysis the elements of the triple mimesis developed in Time and Narrative. This paper aims to precise the sense and philosophical implications of that very interesting possibility.
