Instructions for the Articles
A. Formatting of the manuscripts
- Manuscripts must be written in French. Please address three copies to the
Editor.
- Manuscripts should be printed from a word processing software. The file will be supplied on a diskette, which is to be enclosed (see below the instructions).
- Manuscripts should not be longer than 20 printed pages of the Journal, i.e.
about 50 000 characters or 10 000 words.
- The contributor is to mention, under the title of his article, his first name[s] and his family name
in lower case characters as well as his institutional and postal address.
- An abstract of maximum seven lines will be included at the head of the article,
if possible both in French and English.
- Abbreviations of the names of Biblical books will follow those
given in the French Traduction OEcuménique de la Bible.
- Notes will be numbered continuously from 1 to n and will appear as footnotes at the
bottom of the pages. Bibliographical references will be given in the format :
author, year, page[s].
Example :
At the end of the article, under the heading BIBLIOGRAPHIE,
the bibliographical references will be recapitulated alphabetically in the format :
author, year : first name (initial[s] whenever possible), name, title and complete
references of the contribution.
Examples :
- Wendel, 1950 : F. Wendel, Source et évolution de sa pensée religieuse, Paris, 1950.
- Rott, 1974 : J. Rott, « Magistrat et Réforme à Strasbourg », Revue d'Histoire et de Philosophie Religieuses 54, 1974, p. 103-114.
B. Data entry of the computerized files
- Files will be supplied on 3,5" diskettes, DOS or Mac formatted.
- The file format will be preferably Word, or RTF, Word Perfect or Works. Otherwise, the documents may be supplied as ASCII text file.
- The following rules are to be respected :
- The text is typed in a "Times" font ;
- The notes appear at the bottom of the page and are numbered continuously ;
- For non standard fonts (Greek), please enclose the font file.
Instructions for the Book Reviews
The following rules are applicable for the bibliographical references in book reviews :
- First name(s) and name of the author(s). If the scientific editor(s) of a collective book appear on the title page, they will be mentionned as authors and their names will be followed by (éd.) between brackets.
For collective works, these names will not be mentionned if the number of authors is higher than three.
These names will be not be printed in capitals.
- Complete title and sub-title of the book, such as they appear on the title page and not
on the cover. Title and sub-title will be printed in italics (or underlined if italics
are not available).
- Publication place, publisher name, publication year (if they are specified). If there are several publishers, please write : Place 1, publisher 1 / Place 2, publisher 2.
- Number of pages (do not forget, if appropriate, the specific paginations: preface,
introduction, plates).
- Collection (between brackets, with the number of the book, if appropriate).
- ISBN number et price (if it is specified).
Example :
- Edmond Jacob, Esaïe 1-12, Genève, Labor et Fides, 1987, 174 pages (Commentaire de l'Ancient Testament 8a), ISBN 2-8309-0083-9.
